Hmm, well, that's interesting because I was just reading a book called "No Idle Hands" about the history of knitting in America, and there was a reference to women getting together to knit and calling themselves "stitch 'n bitch" groups way back in the '20's and '30s. So I don't think she has a leg to stand on. But I'm sure that won't stop some enterprising lawyer from filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit. ;-)

And they're still pushing the "this ain't your granny's knitting!" philosophy, which bugs me to no end. I'd love to join a group but I don't want to be a part of that attitude, I mean, where's the respect for women who've paved the way for us? Like you mentioned, Betty Freidan, for example. Coretta Scott King also passed away this week.

it's unfortunate that this bruhaha has gotten ugly with anti sew fast-sew easy websites and the like and people insulting Elissa Meyrich's employees but i think ms. meyrich did herself a huge disservice when she became hell bent on suing knitting groups for using "stitch n bitch" to describe themselves. all she's done is gotten herself a shit load of negative publicity. and like the kid who takes home his ball from the playground because he doesn't like the way the other kids are playing, she hasn't made herself any friends. making herself out to be a victim in this isn't helping either.

One of Elissa Meyrich's employees posted a very nasty and unprofessional letter on the SFSE site, insulting Debbie Stoller and implying that she stole their trademark. I would bet that this particular employee might be the one taking the most abuse.....
