Making garments that really fit

This article is written for knits, but will work just as well for crocheted clothing.

I think we need another tip specifically for crocheted garments. After all, the article says:
(For this exercise, it's best to use clothes made of knitted fabrics, such as tees, rather than those made of woven (stiff) fabrics.
"Woven (stiff) fabrics" pretty much describes some crochet to a tee... Or perhaps the article suggests wearing knitted fabrics when measuring, only because it's written for fitting knitted garments. Anyway, for me personally, the article is too confusing to carry over to crochet. But maybe that's just me!

Just for clarification's sake:
Woven or "stiff" garmets reffers to how the fabric was constructed before it was a garmet. It means it was woven on a loom, not knit on a machine. Chrocheted garmets cannot be mass produced like simple knits and therefor are not included in the article. Home made chrochet and knit garmets tend to have more stretch or tent to be more of a relaxed fitting garmet.

Hello everyone, i have just joined your site,
Yes I agree we do need updating for crochet it is growing in popularity and unfortunately I have only improved my sizing and fit with experience, mistake and then adjusting from it thereafter. Although i do feel that Doris Chan has begun to make the first steps to help with learning to fit garments.

Thanks for the link. I thought that the article on knitting daily was really interesting. I clicked through to a couple of others as on measuring and the like. While I thought the the bits on how to take your measurements and how to use clothes that you have to figure out what would fit, I'm not sure I could translate that into adjusting a pattern for a better fit. Maybe it's my lack of experience?
