embrace the frog - rip it! rip it! rip it!
This week I have spent some time ripping out projects back to the point where they have started to go wrong. I realized (later than I should have) that charging ahead in denial does not always work out for the best! Instead, I am fearlessly frogging (rip it! rip it!) and re-doing. I do think that there are some mistakes that can be worked with and sometimes they are really cool. There are also some mistakes that you just have to chalk up to learning experiences. Embrace that! You are not wasting time or effort when you frog (rip out) something. You are honing your skills and ending up with better crochet in the end.

Thank you so much!! My "life's work" is an afghan it took me 11 years to finish, with many little projects in between. My biggest antagonist is my mother-in-law who could not ever figure out why I didn't just continue on when working a pattern, no matter the difficulty. It's nice to have a name for what I obsessively do! By the way, I love the comparison to a frog; frogs are popular at our house.
mad for crochet!
I glad you like the frog reference - I can't claim it as my own. I don't know who came up with it, but I like it too! As far as your antagonist goes, it is YOUR crochet and none of her beeswax!!!
Thank you, too! I have taken this to mean 'just start over' when the mistake is early enough. Fortunately for me, I have a macaw who loves to steal the mistakes I leave laying around! He thinks he is getting away with something & I figure I won't be entertaining the queen today, so it's okay to leave bits & pieces out. :-D Lauri
A house without birds is, like, quiet.
