Sensual shawl in lovers

Introduction

The shawl is made with the cotton yarn and the lovers' knot - ideal for the beach cover up or during the cooler summer evenings. What I love about this project is how sensual it looks on the female body. The neutral color (ecru) goes with any outfit.

Materials List

*130 grs cotton yarn (the original is a cotton "Butterfly Super 10" made in Greece) of medium size
*crochet needle size G/6 (4.0)

Finished Size

width = 62' (155 cm)

Gauge

The gauge is not necessary in this project. You can make the shawl bigger or smaller depending on the length of the initial chain. The original length (62 inch.) permits to tie the shawl around the hips or the shoulders of most sizes from XS to XXL.

Notes

For how to work the lovers' knot pattern (also called Salomon's knot) you can check this online tutorial:
www.crochet.com.ar/Coleccion_Puntos/Puntosalomon.html (in Spanish)

The Pattern

Initiate with the chain of 62 inches or 155 cm (you can regulate the length of the chain depending on your taste).

Begin working in lovers' knot DECREASING one knot on each side until there is only one knot at the end. Cut the yarn off and hide.
The model does not need the finishing, the edges are beautiful by themselves.
Cut the resting yarn in pieces of 28 inches (70 cm) or as long as you like. Take two and tie in half every second knot except the widest edge.

Just a Little Privacy Wrap

Introduction

Just a Little Privacy WrapThis wrap was created specifically with breastfeeding mothers in mind. Created with 100% silk chenille, it is both airy and beautiful. The wider edges of the wrap provide enough coverage to give babies privacy while eating in public, and make the wrap easy and comfortable for moms to wear. It's surprisingly warm and would make a lovely shoulder wrap for mothers-to-be for those windy spring days.

I purchased the yarn for this wrap from Ebay originally, but any sport weight chenille yarn would do. The wrap was kool-aid dyed with blue and cherry after it was finished. I used a hook larger than recommended to create the lacy look.

Materials List

  • Approximately 16oz. of sport weight chenille yarn.
  • 7mm hook (Size K hook is slightly smaller but should be acceptable)

Notes

It is assumed that each row begins with either a chain 1 for sc rows, ch 2 for hdc rows and ch 3 for dc rows. Personally I reduce the number to 1 chain for sc and hdc rows and 2 ch for dc rows. For my work, it keeps the edges neater and doesn't leave a large gap between the beginning stitch and rest of the work.

US pattern notations used
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
st = stitch
