LTC Scarf

Introduction

LTC = Learn To Crochet.
This scarf is great for teaching the basics of crochet. It’s simple enough that you can make it as long as you want by making your beginning chain longer (as long as it’s divisible by 3) You can also make it as wide as you like by repeating the rows until it’s what you like. Then you add the edging and Viola you’re done!
You can use any yarn that catches your eye too this is a great project!

Materials List

1 skein of worsted weight yarn, 200 - 366 yards (I use caron simply soft)
H (5 mm) hook
yarn needle

Finished Size

this scarf can be as long as you'd like it to be.

Gauge

this pattern is for learning how to crochet and the gauge isn't important.

Notes

sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet

Ch 3 counts as 1st dc.
Ch 2 counts as 1st hdc.

*For an added feminine touch you could use a length of ribbon and thread it through the edging and tie the ends in a sharp bow.

The Pattern

100_1424
Body of scarf Ch 151
Row 1 Sc in 2nd chain from the hook. Sc across. (150 sts)
Row 2 Ch 3 counts as 1st dc. Dc across
Row 3 Ch 2 counts as 1st hdc. Hdc across
Row 4 Ch 3 counts as 1st dc. Dc across
Row 5 ch 1 sc across.

100_1430Edging, you will now be working all the way around the scarf.
Turn, Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc) dc in next stitch. Ch 1. skip next stitch. *1 dc in
the next 2 stitches. Ch 1 skip next stitch. Repeat from * around. The corners
are made by ch 3 instead of ch 1. End with a ch 3 and join in the top of the
beginning ch 3.
Weave in all ends and enjoy!

Mr Ribbet

Introduction

Upon finding myself a kid stuck inside a grown up's body, I take my childish frustrations out with crochet. I came up with the puppet idea by reading a post in the forum. This is my answer to the lady's question. Here is your puppet pattern, hand crafted with love and admiration for the lady that loves her puppeteer husband. You may make as many of these as you want and if you kiss this frog he won't give you warts nor will he turn into a prince. Sounds like the lady already married her Prince Charming.

Materials List

Caron Simply Soft, DK SAGE
approx. 4 oz.

Size G/4mm hook

Finished Size

10 1/2 inches long and 5 inches wide.

Gauge

15sc and 21 rows = 4 inches

Notes

Fits an adult size hand. You may go up or down a hook size without having to alter the pattern as written.

Inc sc is done by putting two sc into one st
Dec sc is done by inserting the hook into one st, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

The Pattern

Chain 20
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook. sc in each ch across. (19sc)Turn.

Rows 23-31: Repeat rows 21 & 22, ending with an inc row. DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

First Arm
Beginning where you stopped on last row
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first 6 sts. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc dec, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, Turn. (6sc)

Row 4: Ch 1, sc dec, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, Turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, Turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc dec, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, Turn.

FASTEN OFF.

Second Arm

Turn and work on opposite side beginning at edge. Attach yarn with a sc. Repeat as for first arm.

Head

In the 19 unworked stitches between arms begin by attaching yarn with a sc in first unworked stitch next to an arm.

Row 1: Work sc across to next arm. (19sc)

Rows 2-11: Ch 1, Work sc across. Turn. (19sc)

Row 12: Ch 1, sc in first 4 sts, then using FRONT LOOPS ONLY dc in next 3 sts, sc in BOTH LOOPS in next 4 sts, then using FRONT LOOPS ONLY dc in next 3 sts, sc in last 4 sts. Turn.

Row 13: Ch 1, sc in first 4 sts, sc in the unused loops from previous row and continue to sc across row. Push dc sts out of your way.

Row 14: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, pull the dc sts down out of the way--do not work them.

Rows 15-19: Sc across.

Rows 20-25: Work one dec at beg and end of each row.
Fasten Off.

The puppet is made from two pieces of identical shape. When making the second piece you only change the head by leaving off the eyes. Do this by working 19 rows of sc instead of following rows 12-14. Otherwise, it is the same.

Put the two pieces together with Right sides facing out and work sc evenly around edges to join. Be sure to leave an opening at bottom for your hand.

Square Dancing Doll

Introduction

This is the end result of my choosing to stay home on New Years Eve. She was born while fireworks went off in the sky and there was no lack of celebration. She is totally unaware that it was not all about her, and I'm not telling her any different. She is a happy little thing. In fact, just this morning she sleepily whispered in my ear, "I am a square dancing doll". What can I say to that but, "Yes, my little friend, you are that."

Materials List

Crochet Hook size G/6/4mm
Tapestry needle
Small amounts of worsted weight yarn. I used Caron brand, Simply Soft in Soft Yellow(MC), DK Country Blue(CC), and Autumn Red(CC)
One small sock(for stuffing)

Finished Size

Approx. 6 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches wide

Gauge

Not that important

Boho Belt

Introduction

Boho Belt
Do you secretly love old doilies?  Well, my secret’s out, I do; but what I am I going to do with a bunch of doilies?  I’m not too into tablecloths or jar covers.  Then that magic crochet bug hit me, dissect them!  What I found is a deep love for the intricate edgings.  Go on check them out.  They are amazing.  Immediately I thought, BELT!  The stitch pattern below is an edging that has been around for over a hundred years, but in this setting you take all the fuddy-duddy out and are left with a great belt.  Very Bohemian, very hip, very now.  So next time grandma wants to give you another doily, say, thanks!  And start imagining all that you can re-create with it.

Materials List

  • Kroy Socks by Patons, #54013 Hickory, (75% wool, 25% nylon), 150 yards, less then 1 skein
  • D/ 3.25mm Hook
  • Needle for weaving in ends
  • Steam Iron and straight pins for blocking
  • (optional) Starch Spray or Liquid Starch
  • Silver keychain loop with ball ends (find in jewelry section of local crafts store)
  • 9mm metal loop

Finished Size

Gauge

First two rounds = 2 1/4” Diameter

Gauge is not critical. If your stitches are typically loose, I would suggest a hook one size smaller then recommended on label.)

Notes

dc: double crochet
sc: single crochet

ch: chain
st: stitch
