Always read the label

I have learned through trial and error, that men are not the only ones who do not read labels or instructions! Women tend to take for granted their yarn and threads. Before starting any crochet project, it is best to read the lable to see how the yarn will wash up and dry out. Will it shrink, felt, fray etc.? If the yarn is prone to shrinking, such as with thread and dishcloth cotton, you are best to either use a larger hook to obtain the size you need or to increase your number of stitches for what you are making. I find using a larger hook works best for me. But as much as I have told my dad and brother over the years, I now tell myself, read the instructions first. Why didn't I listen to my Home-Economics teacher way back in high school?
