Much of the content on Crochet Me, whether created by admins or by members of our community, is covered under one Creative Commons [1] license or another. We urge you to click the license-related links on our pages to learn more about what rights are reserved by the creators and about what types of uses are permitted.
There are a number of factors that have contributed to our adoption of this alternative copyright policy. First and foremost, we want to do everything we can to encourage creativity and innovation in the craft of crochet. To that end, all members have the option to allow derivative works to be made from their patterns and/or tips (check the individual
license to see if this is permitted). Some designers will even allow you to use their pattern for commercial endeavours. Just check the license, and if you're in doubt, ask! A link to the designer or contributor's profile appears with their content.
Second, using Creative Commons [2] licensing is our very peaceful way of showing that copyright can be successful even when people are permitted to use the works in certain, delineated ways. We're counting on the honour system, here (as we would be if we were using conventional copyrighting, too), and we trust that you will follow the rules. We really do encourage you to check out the Creative Commons [3] site and to ask us any questions you have.
