Love this hat! Thank you for posting this for us to share...I have one questions though on row 9- it's 6 single puffs and 2 double and then it goes to 7 singles in the same row? or should it be row 10?

Submitted by loremor on 5 March 2008 - 1:47pm.

Hi loremor and thank you, I'm glad you like my pattern!
I'm not sure i've understood your question..
I'll try to reply anyway.
On Round 9 you should make: 1 puff stitch in same st as joining, 1 puff stitch in each of the next 6 st, and 2 puff stitches in next st.
Then you should continue the round making *1 puff stitches in each of the next 7 st and 2 puff stitches in next st*.
I hope it's more clear now, but if you have any other question just contact me!
Thanks again,
Marta

I was confused but I got it. I went back and counted my puffs in row 9 and they are exactly as you explained. I can't wait to finish and wear the hat!

I love this hat! And I made my own version of it...it's my first crocheted hat!

I had some variegated rainbow baby wool yarn so I decided to try your hat pattern with my wool and whatever hook I had in my hand. Because I didn't bother with gauge and whatnot I had to modify the pattern a little. I also made it far too small the first time and I had to undo a few rows but now it fits perfectly! And because I had a pretty busy coloured yarn I didn't do the bow. Here's a pic...

I've been working on this hat using a 100% hemp yarn. However, I've just finished step 13 and it looks like a floppy pancake! Would this occur because I used too big of a hook?? HELP!

Hello,

I love this hat pattern, it is so amazingly cute.
I have one question though. When you say *work 2 Ps in each Ps around* I wasn't quite sure how you would work a stitch into a puff stitch. Do you work it into the sc that is on top of the puff stitch itself?
please get back to me as soon as possible.
Thanks
:]

HI!
yes, you have to work a ps in the stitch that's on the top!
Thanks for your message!

hello again :]

I figured out how to put the Ps stitch into the stich on top, but fo rsome reason, my hat looks really funny. Could you explain in better detail how to join the ends of the rounds together? because we aren't doing any ch in the begg of the rounds to join to. If you could get back to me as soon as possible, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you, and I love this hat, can't wait till I get it right :]

Hi,
you have to make a sl st in the first Ps of the round to close it.
I hope it's clear now!

hello,

oh boy, haha, I understand that, exactly where do I do the slip stitch though? because I have been doing it on the end of the actual puff stitch and it looks so weird.

Sorry, I don't know why this has been so difficult for me :-/

thank you again

Hello,

If you could please respond to me asap, I want to make this hat before christmas, and I am really confused on this pattern. I'm not really sure where to do the slip stitch, where on the first puff stitch of that row do I slip stitch, and in round 3, I keep ending it with only 1pst, but you said to end with 2pst, please help me, I don't know why I can't get this.

thank you,
Becky

Hello:)!
You have to make a sl st in the first Ps of the round to close it.
I don't know why you end the third round with 1 instead of 2 Ps, nobody else had reported this problem to me, so maybe there's something wrong in how you've done the round 2 or 1..please count again your Ps of previous round and be sure they are 16..I hope it will help!
Ciao and good luck!

Do I stitch in each ps and each chain one?

Submitted by AJRP on 11 December 2008 - 7:46am.

No, you have to make a Ps only in the Ps of previous round, NOT in the ch1!

Submitted by creativeyarn on 11 December 2008 - 7:53am.

Great!!!!! Thanks for all of your help! I really appreciate it!!!

Submitted by AJRP on 11 December 2008 - 8:00am.

I just did this hat over the weekend and the gauge is way off. I used a cheap acrylic yarn and an I hook. 5.50 mm When I printed the pattern I neglected to get your hook size and yarn type. I love the puff stitch look and it does look cute on you.

On round four - for beginners- when she says *1ps in next st, 2ps in next st - It should say 1ps in next 2 stitches. If you know about increases and decreases you can figure this out.

Pattern is simple as it only uses the puff stitch but like she said it gets tiring after a while but the end product is well worth it.

:)

These pics are of the entire pattern - until the last row. So you can see the Gauge is off. REMEMBER it is always important to check gauge when doing patterns.

I had been looking for a good beret pattern, and this is great! i opted for a flower instead of a bow since i just learned how to make flowers! i'm about to make an all black one with reg yarn and a normal hook. super chic! i tried to post a pic but can't figure out how, oh well!
