This is a lovely pattern, and just what I was looking for. I have a question, though, on the hook (is that size 6 equivalent to a size G hook) and one on the yarn (What size skeins of the Simply Soft do you need 7 skeins of)? Anyway, it is exactly what I was looking for to make a quick gift. Thanks very much for posting it.

I'm doing this pattern using 2 colors at the same time. My colors are wine country/white and then dark forest green/wine country Caron simply soft yarn. I HATE acrylic yarn, the feel of it across my finger......I prefer the simply soft over the rough feeling of the regular acrylic. Don't get me wrong, I DO use the regular acrylic but it's not a fave.

The ripple stitch is right now my most favorite pattern that I've learned so far. I hope my ripple blanket turns out wonderful.

why didnt you get a nice merino wool if you dont like the acrylic that much... its a bit more pricey but its so soft and you wont be at all let down with your end result?? Especially if it is something you plan on keeping, also, acrylic isnt my favorite but i do have to say, it is good for those with allergies and over time with each wash it tends to soften up... so dont worry that acrylic wont be rough for long and if you want it to soften quick.. throw it in the was asap after the blanket is done and let is sit in a nice warm dryer with a dryer sheet and there you go.. not only softer, but pretty smelling and warm too LOL.. its not the end of the world and you can look forward to another one to make for yourself and choose a different yarn.. :)
