Introduction

Just in time for the holidays. Children LOVE this cute little reindeer hat.

Materials List

Tan (warm brown), brown, white, black, red - 4 ply yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver)
Size G hook
Darning Needle
Small amount of polyester batting

Finished Size

This will fit children from about 2-6 years.

The Pattern

HAT -using tan
Rnd 1- Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch (8 sc)
Rnd 2- Work 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc)
Rnd 3- *sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc, repeat from * around, (24 sc)
Rnd 4- *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (32 sc)
Rnd 5- *sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (40 sc)
Rnd 6- *sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (48 sc)
Rnd 7- *sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (56 sc)
Rnd 8- *sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (64 sc)
Rnds 9 through 22- sc in each sc around, at end of last rnd join with a sl st. Weave in ends.

Muzzle -using tan
Rnd 1- Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch (8 sc)
Rnd 2- Work 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc)
Rnd 3- *sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc, repeat from * around, (24 sc)
Rnd 4- *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (32 sc)
Rnds 5 through 10- sc in each sc around, at end of last rnd join with a sl st. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Stitch a triangle shaped nose onto top edge of muzzle in red yarn.

Stitch a smile onto muzzle in black yarn.

Lightly stuff muzzle with batting and stitch muzzle into place on side of hat weaving in ends of yarn.

Horn (make 2) -using brown
Rnd 1- Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch (8 sc)
Rnd 2- Work 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc)
Rnds 3 through 20- sc in each sc around, at end of last rnd join with a sl st. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Smaller horn pieces (make 3 for each horn – 6 total)
Rnd 1- Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch (8 sc)
Rnd 2- Work 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc)
Rnds 3 through 7- sc in each sc around, at end of last rnd join with a sl st. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Lightly stuff each of the smaller horn pieces with batting and sew into place on larger horn piece. Stuff larger horn on sew onto hat.

EAR (make 2) -using tan
Rnd 1- Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch (8 sc)
Rnd 2- Work 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc)
Rnd 3- *sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc, repeat from * around, (24 sc)
Leave a long tail for sewing.

Fold circle in half and stitch into place, one beside each horn.

Eyes (make 2)- white
Rnd 1- Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch (8 sc)
Rnd 2- Work 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc)
Leave a long tail for sewing.

black
Rnd 1- Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch (8 sc)

Leave a long tail for sewing.

Stitch black onto lower center of white circles.

Stitch finished eyes into place.

this is so cute. My daughter will be 1 year old 3 days after christmas. This will be a perfect hat for her for next christmas. I also have alot of friends with small chrildren that I think I want to make this for. Thanks for the pattern!
