Introduction
I made this simple little shawl after looking at the Dragonfly Shawl and being too lazy to do that one!
Materials List
G hook
fingering weight or sock yarn - at least one skein, but if you want to make it bigger, you will need more yarn
yarn needle
pins and a surface for blocking - I used large push pins and did it on my wooden deck
Finished Size
it's up to you!
Gauge
not important
Notes
This pattern is written by a lazy person, so your going to have to use your noggin to work it out. It is more of a sketch than an all out pattern. Good luck! I know you can do it! (I am also a very friendly person who is more than willing to answer questions and help you along.)

Plus-Size Armwarmers
Author
Momwithahook Crochets
Introduction
This is a pattern for Plus Size Arm Warmers. There are a lot of arm warmer - wrist warmer patterns out there and most are made for thin long arms. My chubby arms and wrists are large and get larger as they go up toward the elbow. I came up with this pattern for myself but thought others might want to have a simple arm warmer pattern that they can tweak to fit their unique arms. :)
Materials List
Size H/8 5.000mm Hook
2 skeins Patons SWS (soy wool solids) I used Natural Raisin and Natural Moss
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
hdc = half double crochet
dc= double crochet
ch= chain
st = stitch
Finished Size
Size L - XL (customizable to your arms)
Gauge
Gauge is not known. For thicker yarn weight like one used above, you will need less stitches. (use your arm width and length of armwarmers you wish as a guide)
Notes
This was a thicker yarn, if you use a thinner weight yarn you will have to increase the # of stitches for length and width.
The Pattern
Natural Raisin:
Start out with a chain of 26. Then sc in second ch from hook. Single Crochet in each st across. (25stitches)
chain1 turn (each row)
Single crochet in each stitch across for 13 rows
Slip Stitch in the first 8stitches, then single crochet in the remaining 17 stitches. (This is the hole for the thumb) chain 1 and turn
Single crochet in next 17stitches, chain 7, then sc in last stitch. Chain 1 turn
Sc in each stitch across. (25stitches) ch 1, turn
Repeat this 13 more rows.
You'll have a total of 26 rows.
Finish off
Fold the 'square' in half matching up the 'thumb holes'.
You will now need to thread your tapestry with the yarn you will be using to sew up the armwarmers. (I used natural raisin)
Donut Necklace
Author
by Kim Thompson
Introduction
This is a quick, easy project for using up leftover yarn. It was inspired by a newspaper article where the woman being interviewed was wearing a chunky silver necklace. This yarn version is much more comfortable to wear, and it can be made in any colour to match your outfit.
Materials List
Small amount of worsted-weight yarn
½” shank button
3.5 mm (E) hook
Scissors
Yarn needle
Finished Size
Chain: 40.5 cm (16")
Pendant: 9.5 cm (3.75")
Gauge
Exact gauge is not essential for this project.
Notes
Abbreviations used:
ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
Special techniques: magic ring
The Pattern
Necklace:
Buttonhole:
Ring: Ch 6. Join with sl st in first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 1. 8 sc in ring. Join with sl st to first sc.
Note: make sure that button fits through buttonhole easily but snugly. If you use a larger button, you will need to chain more for the ring and then make enough sc to fill in the ring.
Chain: Ch 75. Fasten off, leaving long tail for attaching button.
Note: You can chain fewer stitches for a choker or more stitches for a longer necklace- make sure you try it around your neck before fastening off in case the length needs adjustment.
Button: Thread yarn tail through button shank a couple times, knot, weave in end for a few stitches and cut off excess.
Weave in other end (buttonhole end).

Midsummer Twilight Hat
Author
Jess_B
Introduction
Made with 100% cotton yarn in four muted colors, the Midsummer Twilight Hat is perfect for cooler summer evenings or crisp autumn afternoons.
Materials List
Hook: Size H/8, 5.00mm
Yarn: Small amounts of Sugar 'n' Cream worsted weight cotton in blue, brown, and purple, and Bernat cotton in green.
Finished Size
Approximately 8" from center of crown to edge of scallop.
Approximately 22" brim circumference .
Gauge
Five rounds of dc = approximately 2", 5cm.
Notes
Stitches: chain (ch), slip stitch (slst), no-turn-chain double crochet (ntcdc), double crochet (dc), treble crochet (tc)
For an explaination of the ntcdc, visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LxYpo-tyi8
The NTCDC counts as the first stitch of each row. If that stitch isn't working out for you, replace with "ch 3" throughout the pattern.
I carried the thread on the inside of the hat for the first eight rows to make color changing easier. Once the shell pattern begins, it's easier to tie off each time a new color begins a round. The pattern is written to tie in the new color along the same vertical seam.
The Pattern
Round 1: [Blue] Ch 1. Ntcdc in ch. 9 dc in chain, slst to top of ntcdc. [10 sts]
Round 2: [Blue] Ntcdc. Dc in same st as Ntcdc. 2 dc in each st around. [20 sts]
Round 3: [Brown] Ntcdc. 2 dc in next st. *Dc in next st, 2 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * 8 more times. Slst to top of ntcdc. [30 sts]
Round 4: [Blue] Ntcdc. Dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. *Dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * to * 8 more times. Slst to top of ntcdc. [40 sts]
Round 5: [Purple] Ntcdc. Dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st. *Dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * 8 more times. Slst to top of ntcdc. [50 sts]
Circles Headband
Author
Rikki Lee
Introduction
Who doesn't love headbands!? Here is a quick and easy pattern that you can easily customize. Shown is a headband with 2 different sized circles on one side... but the possibilities are endless. Make as many or as few circles as you would like. Make them in the same color or separate.
Materials List
This will take up so little yarn, you could probably make 20 with one skein.
Any worsted yarn will do and whatever hook size you would like. I used H, but gauge is not important at all in this project.
You will need:
- tape measure
- stitch marker
- small amount of 3 colors of yarn
yarn needle
Finished Size
roughly 35inches long.
Gauge
gauge is not important
Notes
spike sc: a single crochet worked in an indicated stitch lower than the previous round of stitches. just draw your yarn up a little higher when working the spike sc.
The Pattern
row 1: with main color, make a chain approximately 17in long. place stitch marker at end of chain
row 2: continue making a chain, join with sl st in first ch
row 3: continue making a chain, join with sl st in the ch with a stitch marker. continue making a chain for desired length of tie band [I recommend roughly 10inches], fasten off.
join same yarn in other end of 3 chains and make other tie band
for circles:
smaller circle:
rnd 1: with color b, ch17, join with sl st to form a ring.
rnd 2: ch1, 22sc in ring, join with sl st to first sc. fasten off.
note: if it is not full enough for your preference, add a few more sc in ring.
bigger circle:
rnd 1: with color c, ch23, join with sl st to form ring.

Great for showing off any homespun yarn with great texture and colors. A quick project that can be completed in one to two hours. This scarf is easy to adjust to your tastes, if you like long scarves chain more at the beginning. You can probably get 2 skinny scarves out of one skein, so make one for you and one for a friend.

N (13mm) Hook
Finished Size

Princeton Pride Bucket Hat
Author
Annah Greenwood
Introduction
Hello crocheters! This is my first pattern, adapted from another hat pattern that just wouldn't work with my yarn. It was made for a friend for the P-rade going on today. It's a parade for the alumni of Princeton University. His dad is from 1982, so he marches. I thought we could both share our spirit with matching hats. I made mine from another pattern. Feel free to adapt to any school or sports team.
Materials List
* 1 ball burnt orange worsted weight (MC)
* 1 ball black worsted weight (CC)
* Size F hook
* yarn needle
OPTIONAL
* pompom maker
Finished Size
Fits an average size head. (sorry, don't know how to adapt to other head sizes! Try adding more rows) Hat will fit loosely on head - like a bucket hat.
Gauge
Forgot to take gauge beforehand...judge by the dimensions of the "P"
Notes
If not using the "P" made here, try to make your own letter. I figured this one out by drawing it...mess around, tell me how it works out.
Also:
blo - crocheted in the back loop only
The Pattern
Hat
In MC
Round 1: Work 10 sc into magic loop, pull tail to tighten. (10 sts)
Round 2: Work 2 sc in each st around. (20 sts)
Rounds 3-4: Sc in each st around.
Round 5: Work 2 sc in each st around. (40 sts)
Rounds 6-10: Sc in each st around.
Round 11: Work 2 sc in each st around. (80 sts)
Rounds 12-17: Work 1 rnd even

Rounds 19 - 29: Sc in each st around.
Switch to CC
Rounds 30 - 35: *sc in blo, sc from * around
Round 36: Sc around
Slip stitch in first stitch. Fasten off.
The "P"
In CC, Chain 10
Row 1: Sc across, turn
Row 2: Sc across, turn
Row 3: 7 sc, turn
Row 4: 4 sc, turn
Continue row 4 until the shaft is 4.5 inches from the foundation chain. Fasten off.
In CC, Chain 10
Row 1: Sc across, turn
Row 2: Sc across with inc (2 sc in same st) in the last st, turn
Row 3: Inc, sc across, turn
Row 4: Sc across with inc in last st, turn
Row 5: 4 Sc, turn
Row 6: 4 Sc, turn
Row 7: 4 Sc, turn
Row 8: 4 Sc, turn
Row 9: 4 sc, chain 6, turn
Row 10: sc across, turn
Row 11: sc2tog, sc across, turn
Row 12: 6 sc, sc2tog, turn
Row 13: sc2tog, sc across.
Fasten off. With a yarn needle and CC yarn, sew the shaft to the round part. Sew to hat. Weave in ends.
Pompom
If you want to make a pompom (mine doesn't have one, but it would look good with one), use a pompom maker or your fingers to make a pompom while holding the MC and the CC together.
To make a pompom with your fingers, hold three fingers out and wind the yarn about 100 times around. Tie one piece of yarn around the middle. Secure well. Cut the loops and fluff. Trim ends to make them even.
Let me know if there are any mistakes. I'd love feedback!
