Tear / Rain Drop
Introduction
Let me just relay a few warnings before attempting this pattern. Firstly, I'm the only person who has made it; I've made it twice, so if you find any errors, I apologize for it in advance. You're welcome to leave me comments if you find any errors (or if you just feel like leaving me some ;-o ).
This pattern is fairly crude and sort of awkward, but once you start with it, you get the point and can go off on your own, I'm sure. If you have any questions, please ask, but I can't guarantee a helpful answer. Okay, now that my disclaimer is complete, here goes nothing:

Strawberry Fields Forever
Author
Leanne Fairweather
Introduction
These little guys are pretty versatile. Use as a key chain, fridge magnet, car dangler, car freshener, cat toy, person toy, etc! I made these as a gift for a friend who loves strawberries.
Materials List
I used "TLC Amore" yarn in red velvet (medium weight?)
medium worsted yarn in green
4.0mm/US G6 hook
beads for eyes (optional)
black thread (optional)
sewing or tapestry needle (optional)
tiny amount black wool(optional)
polyester fiberfill or stuffing of choice - smelly stuff, catnip, beans, natural fibers etc.
Finished Size
about 5cm / 2" without stalk, about 6cm/ 2.5" with stalk straight up
Gauge
gauge not important
Notes
The body is worked in continuous rounds, so place a marker in the first stitch of each row throughout.
The Pattern
Body (in Red):
Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 6 sc in ring (6)
Rnd 2: *2 sc in next sc* throughout (12)
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* throughout (18)
Rnd 4-6: 1 sc in each st around (18)
Rnd 7: *sc 2tog, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc* throughout (13)
Rnd 8: sc in each st around (13)
You may want to start stuffing here.
Rnd 9: same as Rnd 7, continue to do this until you have only 6 sc left, ending with the last sc 2 tog stitch (so once you sc 2 tog and there is 6 stitches left total).
Continue stuffing.
Next Rnd: work 1 sc, sc 2 tog, fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.
Make sure you have desired amount of stuffing, flatten edges of remaining stitches at the top and sew together. Weave in end.
Leaves and stalk (green)
Ch 4, sl st in 2nd 3rd and 4th ch from hook.
Rnd 1: In same 4th ch, work 6 sc, join with a sl st to 1st sc.
Rnd 2: *Ch 3, sc in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, sl st in next sc of 6-sc ring* around, making six leaves, join with sl st to beginning leaf. Fasten off with long tail for sewing onto body.
Stick your crochet hook through the middle ring and pull the stalk through if you would like it to be right side facing up (strawberries in picture are).
Finishing:
Sew eyes onto body (can be beads like my berries shown or knots in wool etc) , create mouth with either thread or yarn.
Sew leaves and stalk onto the top of the strawberry, varying angles will create different personalities
And you’re done! You can attach a keychain, ribbon, magnet, string, anything.
One of my friends even suggested filling it with smelly stuff instead of polyester and using it as a car air freshener!

Introduction
Hello! This is my first posted pattern to this site!
I had originally designed these to be earrings, but they turned out a liiiiittle to big for my taste (but can certainly still be worn as earrings)!
Instead, these little guys have solved my problem of how to decorate my 4 foot basement-suite-sized Christmas tree this winter!
"Normal" sized snowflakes always looked WAY too big for a small tree, so these are awesome for anyone with mini trees in the house!!!
Materials List
small amount of white cotton crochet thread (way less than a ball)
1.6mm/US6 steel hook, or 1.25mm/US8 if you can swing it
scissors
*OPTIONAL*
fabric stiffener
piece of cardboard (not the thin kind)
piece of wax paper
protractor
ruler
pen
pins (lots)
makeup sponge
bowl
glitter if you want
Finished Size
approximately 5 cm / 2 inches small
Gauge
gauge is too tiny to note - they're all supposed to be different anyway! have fun with it!!
Notes
normal shorthand used
The Pattern
Ch 4 loosely, sl st in 1st ch to join
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 6 sc in ch 4 loop, sl st to 1st sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 7, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, sc in next sc, *ch 5, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, sc in next sc* around, join with a sl st to 2nd ch of ch 7.
Rnd 3: Ch 6, slip stitch in 2nd and 3rd chain from hook, ch 4, slip st in slip st made just before you chained 4, ch 3, sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, then slip st in 2 ch of the original 6 chains made at the beginning of this round (should still be one chain stitch left). This makes one of those three pointed end things.
Next, ch 6, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, then dc in next sc.
Next, (making a three pointed thing again) *ch 5, slip stitch in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, ch 4, slip st in slip st made just before you chained 4, ch 3, sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook and in remaining 2 chs of the ch 5, sl st in dc last made.
This makes another three pointed thing, now and throughout. It is the same as the first one made, only with a ch-5 base instead of ch-6!
Next, ch 6, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, dc in next sc, repeat from * around, ending with a sl st to 2nd ch of starting ch 6 intstead of dc.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
OPTIONAL STIFFENING INSTRUCTIONS
If you want your snowflakes symmetrical at all times, you may want to stiffen them, the ones in the picture are stiffened so that is what they will look like more or less. I will post pictures of what this looks like if it is too confusing!!
Step 1: For this, you will want to take your piece of cardboard and draw one line lengthwise down the centre.
Step 2: Use the protractor and mark at 60 and 120 degrees on each side. Join the marks and you have your six points! You can make as many on the cardboard as you have room.
Step 3: put wax paper over cardboard and pin snowflakes to the cardboard along the lines. This may take some practice; experiment with tension and number of pins. Stretching it out and using many pins will make the snowflake look delicate and very even. Loose pinning with only a few pins will make the
snowflake smaller and more varied...
Step 4: pour some fabric stiffener (I use water soluble) into a bowl and dab it on with the make up sponge.
Step 5: (optional) sprinkle some glitter over while it's still wet - let sit to dry!!
you can save glitter by folding the wax paper after and pouring excess back into the container :)

Loopy Dust Mop Sleeve
Author
M.K. Carroll
Introduction
I crocheted a basic reusable cloth to use with a certain trademarked floor sweeper meant to be used with name-brand disposable cloths. I improvised, but there are free crochet patterns for that (Tonya Hume's Swiffer Cover, Tiff Crochets Swiffer Cardi, and Gherkin's Bucket Crochet Biffer Shrug, for starters). I used the basic cloth, and it worked fine, but I found myself wanting a loopy, dust mop type of cloth to do things like clean the ceiling fan blades, so I crocheted this one - made flat in one piece, with pockets at the side to slip over the head of the sweeper.
Materials List
Yarn: about 80 - 100 yards/75 - 90 metres of worsted weight/10-ply/Medium/4 "kitchen cotton" such as Lily Sugar & Cream, Pisgah Peaches & Creme, Lion Brand Lion Cotton, Kitchen Cotton, Cotton-Ease, Nature's Choice Organic Cotton, or Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Cotton, Dyed Cotton, Pakucho Organic Cotton, or any other worsted weight cotton or cotton-blend yarn of your choice. You could also use wool - it does attract dust nicely!
Crochet hook: I/9/5.5mm or size to get gauge
Knitting needle: US13/9mm/UK00 [OPTIONAL] - to make loops over (can use finger, pen, dowel, etc.) For the SMALLER size, one knitting needle is enough. For the LARGER size, two knitting needles make bigger loops.
Finished Size
SMALLER (older models) 3"/7.5cm wide, 9.5"/19cm long, LARGER (newer models) 4.5"/11.5cm wide, 10"/25.5cm long. Will fit on a Swiffer (tm) sweeper - but the sizes can vary, so check the measurements of the sweeper you are using and adjust pattern as needed to fit.
Gauge
Gauge/Tension: in sc, 16 sts/16 rows = 4"/10cm. In loop stitch, 16 sts/10 rows = 4"/10cm
Notes
I used Chloe Nightingale's Loop Stitch Tutorial (right here on Crochet me!) Working it over an object feels a little awkward at first; I like it because the loops turn out nice and even.
The hook size will seem large for the yarn, but the loop stitch can get very tight, making it harder to crochet and resulting in a firmer fabric than necessary.
The Pattern
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet [AUS/NZ/UK: replace with dc = double crochet]
st = stitch
lp st = loop stitch
Instructions for sizes given as SMALLER(LARGER)
To make evenly sized loops, I worked the loops over a double-pointed knitting needle. I work the entire row and then slide the knitting needle out of the loops.
Begin with first flap:
ch 13 (20)
1) sc 12 (19)
2) ch 1, sc 12 (19)
repeat row 2 until piece measures 2"/5cm long (7 rows)
[for LARGER size, you may want to make the flaps a little longer]
turning row:
sc 12 (19) in front loops only
looped surface:
1) lp st 12 (19)
2) sc 12 (19)
repeat rows 1 and 2 until loop st section measures 9.5"/19cm(10"/25.5cm) long.
turning row:
sc 12 (19) in front loops only
second flap:
1) ch 1, sc 12 (19)
repeat until second flap measures 2"/5cm long. Fasten off.
[for LARGER size, you may want to make the flaps a little longer]
Assemble: Fold flaps to back (smooth side) and sew the sides down, leaving top of flap open. Weave in all ends. I don't think this needs blocking, but if that would make you happy, wash with mild soap and wet-block to size.
This pattern may be used by individuals to make and sell finished items (for example, at craft fairs, on Etsy, as charity fundraiser items). Please give credit where credit is due.

Plastic ribbon coasters
Introduction
In my bid to try and recycle things. I have been using alternatives to yarn. I have lots of the ribbon used to create bows around parcels, I'm not even sure what is called but florist use it to adorn bunches of flowers .They come in glorious range of colour. They are also waterproof and heatproof.
Using carrer bags is a great way of reducing waste. First you have to prepare the bags into a ball of plasticyarn. For instructions on how to do this, check out u tube .Once you have done that it's so simple , working with plastic is fun.
Materials List
5mm crochet hook,
2og will make three coasters, a roll of ribbon will make alot.

Finished Size
The beauty of this pattern is that you decide how large you want it to be ,large placemat size, coaster size its up to you.

As with most of my patterns I free myself from the mantra always make a tension swatch.
Live a little its a coaster.
Notes
A simple pattern that just uses double crochet. A good pattern to introduce working in the round.
