How do I add buddies?
You can add other users to your buddy list very easily. When you come accross a user who you'd like to add as a buddy, click on that user's name or picture, and you'll be taken to their profile page. Find their list of "My Buddies", and at the bottom of the list, you can click to add them to your buddy lists. You'll then be asked (just to be sure) if you want to add this user; just click "Add".
Before the user becomes your buddy, they'll be asked to confirm. Once they do, then they'll show up on your buddy list (and vice versa).
If you're wondering how you might come across other users, you'll soon see that this can happen in many ways. For instance, you might be looking at a pattern. You'll notice a block to the right of the pattern telling you about the author. Simply click on the author's picture, and you'll reach their profile. Or, click on the "People" link near the top of any page to see who's online and who's recently joined Crochet Me. Again, you can click on a user there to go go their profile.

I just joined this site and cannot find the answer to this question: how do I search for other members in my area? I accidentally found one only a few towns away when I was shown the new members list once I had registered, but before I had logged in for the first time. Afer I logged in, I went to find her again, she was no longer on the list. Please advise me. I recall the member was from Lexington, NC and joined yesterday 10-10-07. Thank you. OS: I dont even know how I got to this screen to post a comment, since it showed up while I was reading the FAQ.
You can search members at http://crochetme.com/search/user.

I'm new to the site and would really like to make friends all over the world who enjoy needlework. I am 50 years old with 4 grown children and 2 grandchildren 3 and 7. I crochet alot to keep my hands moving. I am in a wheelchair so I don't drive and can't get out much. I'm really looking forward to learning how to use this site and make some friends.
I think this is a wonderful site and I am glad to be a part of it. As I post this comment, I think I've may have met a new buddy already. I am reading a posted comment by needles41503 and I seem to have a lot in common with her. I am 56 years old, in a wheelchair, love to crochet and knit. I learned to crochet from a 11 year old girl in 1971 and been happily crocheting ever since. My uncle still has the first afghan that I made him for Christmas a year later. Like needles41503, I also crochet to keep my hands moving because of my arithis(?)(pardon my spelling), but I am still learning things. I just looove yarns. If I won the lottery today, tomorrow I would be out just buying up yarns of every type and pattern books to go with them. I hope I can depart some of what I have learned about crochet to someone reading this post and also make friends in the process.
I'm new to this site, but would like to thank everyone. Your patterns are so beautiful! I love to knit and crochet, but I couldn't create a pattern to save my life. I have no imagination whatsoever. I want to thank you for sharing your genius.
I used the search box for users, but it only searches usernames; so, for example, I would like to find fellow crocheters in Washington, DC, nothing comes up if I type "Washington DC", and a bunch of names come up under "DC" because dc is a part of their username (Ex: Username: hdc). Does the search only cover names and not look into their profiles? I would love to meet local crafters here, too!

how do I delete a buddy
In the My Crochet Me menu to the right, click "My buddies". Click on the name of the buddy you'd like to remove and you'll be taken to their profile page. Under their photo is a list of their buddies. At the bottom of that list is a link that says, "Remove so-and-so from your buddylist". Click that link, and you've removed the buddy.
Check out the Crochet Me book!
I would like to find buddies near Durham, North Carolina. Anyone out there?
