How do I customize my account?

Categorized As:

To upload or change your picture, to change your password, or to manage other account settings, click on "My account" in the "My Crochet Me" menu on the right. Then click "Edit" under your username. You can change your password here, upload your avatar (maxiumum size 85x85 pixels), set up your comment signature, manage your private message settings, enter your Flickr ID so your most recent photos will be displayed on your profile, choose whether you want to be automatically subscribed to any content you create (you'll then get email notification when comments are posted), manage your Buddy list settings, choose whether to display a contact form that allows people to email you without knowing your email address, and set your time zone. Make the changes to your account settings and then click"Submit".

You can also add information to tell other users about yourself. After clicking "Edit", click "About Me", and enter information such as your website/blog and your hometown. When finished, don't forget to click "Submit".

I can't replace my picture either. I can delete it, but I can't put a new one there. The same old one keeps coming back.

Same problem; I was trying to replace "Louise in a hat" with a version that is cropped better, and I can delete the original one (put up last week) but not upload a new one! Thanks.

Oh! My avatar HAS been updated!

I also just found where to enter my Flickr ID in "my account," so maybe that solves my picture problem.

Cheerful and efficient self-service here!

Thanks for a great site!

how do you add to your favorite blogs?
Thanks,

Emily, for now we only have a line for your favourite website. Cool idea, though. I'll file it!

I'm sorry I didn't chime in here about the avatars; I somehow missed this whole thread.

A problem might occur if the image you're trying to use is too large. If this is the case, try saving a smaller version.

I find that my profile does not offer how-to's if I want to edit or add to it. Tips and Tricks is a good example. It's not a hyperlink and offers no explanation how to make an entry in that topic. Nothing is self-explanatory or given a hyperlink to explain what and how to use each feature. Is this website just being started? Seems that way. Maybe I will check back in a few years. It's a good concept, but just not user friendly at ALL. I wish the owner of the site would look at http://www.gardenweb.com as a model and copy their format. It's the easiest site on the web for posting to forums, posting photos of creative projects, and contacting other members. Crochetme.com doesnt offer a Search Members link, or if they do, they are hiding it somewhere. It needs to be in the main menu. I could go on, but all for now. Contact me to discuss or help.

Yes, we are still in beta -- we have recently launched and are working out the kinks.

Hi Kim, how do I link my previously published Crochet me patterns to my profile?

Hi Vashti -- I have to do it (it's a slow process; I'm on it!).

Hey thanks! That was fast!

I have tried to change my profile picture a few times now and it just keeps reverting back to my old one. It will delete the old one, but when I try to upload a new one, it just puts the old one back. I am trying to use small ones, I don't know what else to do. Help please?

Hi Tarra - Please try emptying your browser's cache. It might simply be that your browser has a cache of the old picture saved so it's showing that instead of the new one. (When I look at your profile, I see a photo of you [I assume!] looking down -- is that the new one or the old one?)

If that doesn't work, post back here and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for the advice, I tried it but I still can't get my picture to change. But if you saw the one of me looking down then it must have changed somewhere, just not in my account. Hmmmm. I guess it's not a big deal. It's just a bit strange :)

Hm. Weird. If you know how to take a screenshot of what you see, please do and post it here, or email me and I'll try to figure out what's going on.

I've been trying to change my profile. I make the changes. I hit submit. I go back to my profile. The changes aren't there. I've done this four times over two days.

What am I missing? Something obvious, no doubt...

Try emptying your browser's cache and then see if it's been updated.

Hi... glad I just found you. Can you advise me how to change my password? I can't seem to find it and I will NEVER remember the one you gave me.
Thanks, Jean
