Frontpage
Ok. Time for me to pay some attention to the frontpage. I think I want to change it to a 2-column with full-width top and bottom, but editing the panel doesn't allow me to change the configuration. Do I have to delete it and start again? This is where I get a wee bit freaked out, because I don't quite understand how to set it to display as the site index page. Help?

Create a new panel that does what you want it to do. When it is the way you want it to be, we'll replace the existing from page by updating http://beta.crochetme.com/admin/settings/site-information
Big question: I need the homepage *not* to have the interior sidebar. Can this be accomplished with panels?
In other words, I need the homepage to take up the full width of the blue box (that's now taken up by the white content area + the interior sidebar).
Currently there is "search" and "welcome new user" in that panel the home page. I'm going to remove them to see if we can make the content panel stretch to the full width. You will need to add these two blocks back in the most appropriate place...
Done. the style.css has been updated. Look for:
#singlepanel #contentleft
and the page.tpl.php has been updated to add a special id into the page if the current page has no parameters attached (i.e. it's just index.php with no extra bits of information at the end).
Oh, holy moly. You rock. I woke up early this morning (neighbour's dog barking notwithstanding) eager to tackle this. Now I'll enjoy my coffee and theme the page (and, possibly, and possibly at the same time, the other index pages). And then I will invite many people to break our site.
YAY!! I am powerful and empowering. Hear me ROAR!
