Linking designers to old content

Categorized As:

Ok. We now have some real, live Cme designers on the site. Designers whose patterns were published on the old site. I'd like to link them up. Should I do that by simply changing the authoring information on those old patterns? Or is there something else I need to do? If I change the authoring info, will those patterns then automatically show up on the designer's list of posted patterns?

I need to do a custom view for the pattern display that pulls the bio from the referring node (if it's an old pattern) onto the pattern page. It's on my list. It scares me a little bit...

Don't be scared...  :)

Any chance this info can display in the interior sidebar, like the "new" info for posters goes (just under the search box, where it says "About so-and-so")?

Oh sure, "don't be scared, but let me make it harder first" ;)

Yeah, I'm sure I can figure it out... :)

Just checking in on this, since there's now the handy drop-down to link designers to the "old" patterns, but it doesn't seem to have an effect.

Changing the authoring info does the trick nicely... The designer's avatar and info displays in the sidebar. Since the profiles are screwy right now, I can't find out if the pattern immediately displays in their "My Patterns" section. If it does, I say we consider this resolved, and I'll update the authoring info by hand (it's a finite number of patterns, so that shouldn't be terrible).

Since the update I did to the database to remove "spanky" as the author of patterns resulted in all patterns being removed from my profile page, I will assume that it will work as intended when the authorship is fixed for other patterns. marking as resolved even if that sentence didn't make sense. :)
