dc's are trebles in disguise!
These are ideal for when the Autumn chill creeps in and you don't need the full glove treatment.
I made these using 'kid-silk haze' and a beaded trim using 4ply cotton. They are great to drive in, shop in and so on.

mmmm, very schmancy. they somehow give me a 30s vibe...nice. you should post the pattern.

(Let's face it, with 3 kids under 6, 2 bulldogs and one hubbie, crochet... it's a sanity thing.)
This is my favourite shrug from:

I've made it in a dk wool mix, and in this dk cotton, got orders for Christmas off my mum, it's fun to crochet; starting at one arm and incorporting the back and second arm in one piece. Add on the collar and cuffs, and appart from weaving in, you have no sewing up to do!!
Oooh, pretty mitts! I made a pair of utilitarian mitts last winter to keep my hands warm while I net surfed. Yours are so much more glamorous.
I love your shrug/sweater. I've been wanting to make something like that.
Cheers Dawn! was thinking about posting the pattern, but not sure if it's ok to do that if it's not your own pattern design etc. This came from a book, if I were to fully reference the book etc, is that ok??

Wow! beautiful shrug, beautiful mitts! I made some fingerless mitts because my hands get cold. They don't match but who cares. BEADING, though, what a great idea! these are practically jewelry!
I'd love to see a picture that shows someone wearing the shrug; how is it to wear?
thanks for your comments Teresa, the shrug is great to wear; you can either wear it open or with a nice clasp/pin, or ribbon through to fasten it. I'll try and get my son to take a pic of me wearing it and post it soon.

Hmm, I love that shrug too! So many plans, so little time.
Those are cute! I've seen lots of patterns for fingerless mitts and am going to attempt some soon. My office is always freezing, and I really need to keep my fingers warm!
I have really small hands and all the patterns I tried increased too much too early. So I'm just making mine up as I go. The nice thing is that I can put it on row by row and adjust as i go.
Hardcore? Hardcore is for babies. I'm HOOKCORE!
I have really small hands, too - I think my 11-year-old daughter's hands are probably as big as mine. I'll probably look for a child pattern first and see if they fit. If not, I can always give them away. I'm not confident enough yet to wing it...
CUTEE. I just love the mitts!
I am sort of a beginner, so please bear with me!!
I hope this doesn't tread on any toes, but as I have my fingerless mittens in my coat pocket (drafty Victorian building + lots of typing = desperately cold hands at this time of year!), I thought I'd jot down the pattern. I made it up as I went along, so apologies for any errors - I'm typing this out from memory!
I crocheted in a round, with a slip stitch to join and no turning (except for one or two rows where I've indicated to turn).
Row 9 - Dec 1 sts, sc 16. Finish off.
Sorry it's a bit of a vague pattern! I did it with hand spun merino on (I think) a 6mm hook. I have super tiny hands, so go up a hook size or two or increase a few stitches to suit your hand size. I tried them on as I went, so you may need to do a few more rows until you get to the thumb hole. They're also quite short (just to my wrist bone) so add on a few rows at the bottom, or add a cuff. You can also do a more fancy stitch, but I was aiming for a basic mitten so I could let the yarn speak for itself (it's a riot of beautiful colours).
ETA: Found a picture of my mittens! http://www.flickr.com/photos/_miggins_/1498833355/
Katie love your fingerless mitts,I have ben trying to find a pattern since last week.
I go to a ballroom dance class and the hall was so cold was hoping I could have them in too night but sadly did not have a pattern.
Miggins, Your pattern and photos would do nicely in the Patterns section on this site.
