Hi everyone,

Just wanted to pop in and say "hello" to all my fellow crocheters. I just joined recently and really love this site. I already made the school bus scarf which turned out nicely, but am still learning how to maneuver around this website. I keep discovering more and more new things I didn't know were here.

I live in SE Michigan and with all the snow we've been getting lately, I am happy to stay indoors and knit and crochet. This is a good time to get a lot of projects done. I'm in a group which makes items to donate to local charities, so I take my crochet with me everywhere. Any chance I get, I am busy crocheting/knitting. I think that crochet is more portable though and have been known to crochet while shopping in the store, during meetings, while travelling, etc. Do any of you do that too?

Hope to hear back from you.

Hi All, I wanted to say hello and express my excitement about finding this site. I am new to crochet. I have made a few things out of a book I picked up called "Guide to Crochet" by the Chicks with Sticks and have enjoyed each project that I have tried. I found this site while looking for a sock pattern and that is what I am working on know. I may need help but so far so good.

Look forward to meeting members of this community!!

HI,

I'm wondering what kind of yarn you're using for your sock pattern. I've crocheted slippers and booties but never socks. I'm really picky-picky about my socks and can't stand any lumps or bumps in them. I would like to learn how to KNIT socks because I think knitting them would be smoother than crocheting, but I'm always on the lookout for anything I can do in crochet because to me that is soooo much easier. So, is your sock pattern/yarn smooth enough to be worn in shoes?

Also, I would like to make some socks for my husband since he seems to have an allergy to the elastic in his socks. It always makes his ankles itchy when he wears socks, but he doesn't have that problem in the summer when he wears sandals w/o socks.

Hi PC,

I am using the "In Shoe" sock pattern on this site. The yarn that I am using is Patons Kroy Sock yarn. It is defined a "super fine" and is crocheting nicely but slowly because the plys are loose. I have partially completed the ankle portion of the sock and it feels quite soft and comfy. I am using a size F-5/3.5mm crochet hook which is a little smaller than what the pattern calls for.

I hope they are not lumpy of bumpy when I am done but I guess time will tell

Hi Ann - nice that you found this site. I love it here! Make sure you show us all your socks when you finish ( or before!).

mad for crochet! Hi PC I have the same issue with crochet socks that you do - can't stand the bumps! I have been experimenting with using slip stitch in the front loop only in the round and coming up with a nice smooth fabric. I think this will be good for socks, I just haven't tried it yet. Let's give it a go!
