I love this throw http://www.garnethill.com/jump.jsp?itemID=12198&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1,2,10274,10457,10457&iProductID=12198 , but the price, on sale at $278, puts it out of reach. Still, the pattern and the colors in either colorway enchant me.
It wouldn't be too hard to figure out the pattern, but getting all the right color yarns would be a challenge. And finishing off all those ends would finish me off. Sigh.
Pauline
Hey Pauline, thanks for showing us that gorgeous afghan. You are right tho, all that sewing would kill me too! Even though it's price is too high for me to afford, it makes me happy to see appropriate value put on hand crochet items.
mad for crochet!
I am working on a similar project (but it will be slowly over time) which was in Crochet Today this month. It is really easy and unlike the one shown you join in the last row so very little sewing (some finishing of ends but you can work over most of them). I am using my scarps to make it but I love the look so far. I can only work on it in between my other projects as I only wanted to use scarps and scarps only happen after I finish something.
It is good to see that it is very fairly priced for the amount of work involved (not to mention the yarn).
You'll have something beautiful one day.
I stared at the photos a lot, and I think the hexagons are joined by single crochet. All the joining is in the same yarn. Now if there is some way to join them into a whole row at a time and then go back and link the columns together, that would be a speedier, easier way to join. Hmm. But there are still all the ends in each motif. Sigh. Or, spendy, buy some fancy hand-died yarn.
