Hello everyone.

I am glad I found your site and all of you. Ya seem so wonderful. I am excited to get to meet all of you.

My Crochet life:

I am sort of new to crochet and sort of .... well not. I am new to learning what the stitches are called and hopefully I can read a pattern with confidence one day soon. However, I was "taught" by feel, look and sight by my Grandmother, even counting was a suggestion on easy patterns. Was (lovingly, but wrongly told if my tension was even then I should just be able to eyeball it.) Yikes!! No wonder all my straight lines came out as chevrons. haha Amazingly, when checking or work later in life it is perfect.

I love crochet because I am very comfortable at what I know, I can do it almost without looking but am not sure what it is called nor can I chart it. I need to loosen up on my stings a little (both in crochet and in life. ha ha) and I MUST learn to read patterns. So I am ready to pull out my string to return to the foundation level and learn things correctly.

My personal life:

I am a stay at home Christian Mother of 3 and have been married to the same wonderful man for 15 1/2 years. I am looking forward to gleaning from all of you wise men and women from this board. I hope my many questions don't annoy you if so I apologize in advance. I have recently begun to try my hands at knitting with seems well fine on the knit stitch because it is simply a hookless crochet but tedious on the Perl stitch.( easy to visualize but awkward for me to do yet. So far I can't help but scream just crochet it people! this knitting is for those with more patience. I lose my place all the time and it is too hard for me to put them back on the needle when they slip off. (Kids, dog, dinner anything can cause me to set it down and forget it.) That is why I want to build up my crochet muscles. At least if I loose a hook I have lost 1 stich at most. PLUS, I can find my place again in a hurry. Looking forward to meeting ya'll.

Blessings,

Shannon

Welcome aboard. I am sure you will find many wonderful members here that will be happy to share, give tips and lend help. I dabble in a lot of different arts/crafts but crochet was the first craft I picked up. As much as I love to knit, crochet does lend a few advantages that appeal to me. One you mentioned, rarely in crochet will you loose more than one or two stitches if the needle slips free. Not sure if others feel this way but crochet is so much faster for me. This comes in handy if you need a last minute gift to give. I wish you all the best with picking up the art of crochet.

Happy Stitching,

Got-Yarn
