Hi everyone. I'm reaching out because I think I've gone about as far as I can being a self taught crocheter. I'm trying to move into the clothing arena and I'm a little intimidated, so I plan to seek plenty of help and advice. I've made plenty of blankets, hats and scarves and now I want to move on. I've been looking around for local workshops and such, but I seem to find a lack of crochet support in DE. Please feel free to share you words of wisdom (whatever they may be.) I'll soak up every last bit of advice you give!

Hi Psuamanda,

Check out Doris Chan's book "Everyday Crochet", I think that's the name, where she explains how to make a crocheted garment fit. Lily Chin does the same, also how to design, in her "Couture Crochet Workshop".

Another source is right here. Try this article, http://crochetme.com/hangin-tough-highly-subjective-primer-crochet-drape-and-hook-size

on hook size and drape.

I must admit, I've collected a lot of books and magazines on crocheted garments, though I'm daunted by completing them. But I read them!

I picked up my hooks again at the end of last year and started crocheting a bag. Ít's not yet finished, but this year I have finished two scarves and two shawls. I am getting hooked.

Recently I have bought 'Amazing Crochet Lace'and 'Everyday Crochet' from Doris Chan. She designs really beautiful clothes. On my wishlist are:

Double Stitch by Erika and Monika Simmons

Fly Tops & Funky Flava by Afya Ibomu

Couture Crochet Workshop by Lily Chin

The best crochet patterns for wearables are in english and not in dutch. So I am learning myself to read and understand these english patterns. That's quite a challenge. I have planned to ask some crazy questions

here about the patterns of Doris Chan

There are a lot of websites about crochet. This one I like very much:
