Alright, no. I'm not going to write about why we're indifferent to chicken. Sometimes in the madness that leads up to a launch of a new issue, we get a little ... fried (heh; like chicken, but different). And then we pass emails across the ocean about things like chicken. Or, at least, that's what Chloe and I emailed about. It's amazing what you can find out you have in common with someone you work with so closely, yet from so far away. Ah, crochet. It makes the world smaller.
And speaking of small - er, big - have we got a winter issue for you, dear readers. Last-minute and not-so-last-minute gifts? Check. Kid stuff? Check. Garments? Check. Go play. I'll wait.
As always, things here behind the curtain seem in flux. The weather's been nuts, work has been abundant, it seems every other heartbeat is spent out of town. At the same time, Crochet Me is a familiar constant: always here, usually working up to speed, constantly reminding me of what's important to me. Thanks for being a part of it, and for keeping me on my toes.
Huge thanks go, as always, to Julie and the aforementioned Chloe, who spent countless hours making the patterns and tutorials in this issue as straightforward and technically accurate as possible. As we publish more and more complex patterns, their job gets more and more challenging, and they do it with wit and humour. As always, if you encounter an error (we're only human), please let us know. And, obviously, loving thanks to all the contributors to this issue.
One of those contributors is Emily Nelson, who's been involved with this magazine almost from its launch. She was a university student in the beginning, and now she's a proper classroom teacher, too busy following other pursuits to continue to maintain her crochet website. She offered a couple of her patterns to us, and I'm happy to give them a continued home on the web. I wish her all the best of luck, and thank her for sharing her enthusiasm and unique creativity with us for so long.
For those of you in warmer climes, feel free to laugh at the rest of us as we huddle for warmth and take shelter from falling precipitation. Regardless of where you live, go crochet something.
Smooches,
Kim
PS This issue has been heavily influenced by several neat social web apps. Come play, will you?
PPS Notice we've got the Tutorials menu link working again? It's a work in progress...
