So what types of wool are best for what projects? I'm just a lil confused as to the different plys, aran, DK etc. For example what would be best for a baby blanket or an afghan?
I really find that what type of yarn for which project is related to personal taste, who you are making the object for, and how much wear and tear it will get. For a baby blanket, I would definitely stick with a "baby" yarn -- a 1 or 2 on the Yarn Weight System (you can find these numbers on most yarn labels), the number goes up as the thickness of the yarn increases. For an afghan, I would use a worsted or 4 weight if I wanted it really thick and warm, but a 2 would work well for a lightweight covering and would still be very warm if made out of wool or alpaca. Hope this helps.

Thank you Janine, I appreciate your input I understand a bit more now than I did. :o)
