A vest and a colour question.

Categorized As:

I'm working on a vest and I have begun to question the way the yarns deep rich gorgeous colours are turning out, after reading the latest Interweave Crochet issue and Kim's article. Any opinions on the way it looks so far?

Forgive the multiple layers of crochet in the backdrop. It was a cold morning and I work with my feet on the chair under the blankie.

I think the colors are working well. I don't see a strong color pattern. The hues seem nicely mottled.

I'm making 'Baby It's Cowled Outside', a loose collar to wear as a scarf, from multi-color sock yarn and the colors first made nearly horizontal, narrow stripes, then they formed broad *vertical* stripes, and now they are curving around the opposite direction from the original stripes. It's very noticeable. Since it will all be scrunched around my neck when worn I'm not fretting, but if it did so in a vest like yours it would be a disaster. I'm becoming anti-painted yarn. This is a long-winded way to say you are lucky.

Your stitch pattern is evident. Of course it would be even more evident in a solid color yarn, but it's not hidden by the color pattern.

Thank you Pauline. I was taking more detailed pictures this morning, and my first set were of the insde. I almost like the way the inside pattern looks better than the outer ridges.

That is why crochet keeps intriguing me. The stitches form infinitely different looks depending on the yarn, and hook size.
