Unfinished Giftie Blanket #3 - The Stripe

Categorized As:

...adn yes, languishing blanket #3...intended for my sister's graduation as an oral surgeon...meaning she could buy her first ever "new" bed. Insanely, this is to be a queen sized spread. Yep, I'm nuts, lock me away now.

7 colors of Cotton Ease. Bella Dia's Vintage Vertical Stripe pattern.

What a shock, almost, to see this. That is definitely vintage! My grandmother kept an afghan on her couch that was done in your pattern. As I recall, the DC stitches were made in the spaces between the DC's on the row below, not into the top of the DC. It looks like yours might be done that way, too. I remember a lot of black rows as well. On a chilly day I loved to snuggle in it beside the heat vent from the furnace and just bake. That was 60 years ago. :)

When I saw the new Cotton Ease colors, they just screamed this blanket at me. It's fabulous and I will have a veeeeeeeeery hard time giving it away.

(Let's face it, with 3 kids under 6, 2 bulldogs and one hubbie, crochet... it's a sanity thing.)

I don't know if it's the camera or what, but your link looked like that blanket was made from acrylics because the colors are so intense while yours is *relatively* muted. The afghan I remember was bright, but must have had that softer, natural fiber color to it, too. Acrylics hadn't been invented then. I'm not sure I would have recognized my granny's afghan in your link. Oh well, enough with the nostalgia.

Do you mind sharing which colours you used? I really like your colour scheme.
