Uneven afghans

Categorized As:

I am new to crochet. When I finish crocheting a baby afghan, why is one end wider than the other ?? This is very frustrating, especially after all those hours of work. Thanks for any help or suggestions !!

Hi crochet nurse. I will try to play nurse with your crochet!
My guesses are
1- are you dropping a stitch when you turn? Make sure you chain the correct # of stitches- 1 for sc, 2 for dc, 3 for treble... before you turn your work for the next row. This turning chain counts as your first stitch.
2- are you picking up an extra stich when you turn?Remember, the turning chain is the first stitch.
3- It is a little tricky to keep the same tension as your foundation at the beginning. Some folks use a larger hook for the foundation to remedy this problem

mad for crochet!
