Trying a funky fringe

Picot Mesh scarf in progress

I've made the main part of a scarf, using a picot mesh stitch. It's now about 3 feet longer than in the picture, with a scallop edging along the sides. It's for
a friend that's quite excentric, but the scarf isn't at all! So I want
to add a funky fringe to it. I started one that has something that
looks like dangling eyes... but the problem is that they don't look
like eyes... they just look like I have no idea what I'm doing...
Any idea for a cool fringe that'd funk up that scarf???

Intermix some dragon flies with heavy fringe - chain for a few inches then slip stitch back?

Or dangle leaves and flowers from a free pattern at the bottom of page?

Or check out The AntiCraft for funky and weird inspiration.

These are awesome ideas and I am going to use them! In fact, you just gave me a great idea for a gift.

Wow,
Thanks Pauline. Great ideas. I ended up finishing the scarf before your reply. Here it is!

The cool thing about it is that when you don't wear it, you can roll it up into a Monster Volcano!

I'm pretty sure my friend will like it!

I got the idea from one of Kim Werker's photos on Flickr.

Hi Soleil! Did you enter your Flickr ID on your profile page here on Crochetme? That might be why your pictures are not showing up for other people. Good luck!

Perfect! Funky and beautiful! She'll love it. If she doesn't, you can send it here.

What weight yarn did you use?

Obviously, the pictures are back, but clicking them doesn't work. The link you gave works fine. Most odd.

Is the gray scarf also the green scarf? Sometimes green photographs strangely.

BTW, another site for inspiration for another time is www.mypicot.com

Yeah, it is the same scarf. Daylight vs flash... It's a earthy chartreuse green, not quite as bright as most chartreuse yarn.
It's a worsted yarn, 4ply, 100% acrylic, by Red Heart (Soft touch)... really cheap yarn. And, oh, soooo soft! It took me most of a 140g skein that had cost me about $5 at Walmart... I like to buy local yarn, but that one, being so cheap... I just couldn't resist! I'll try the scarf again in a silk I think.
Thanks for all the links!
