Tapestry crochet project
Hello everyone,
I'm new to Crochet Me (first post and all). At the moment, I've gotten myself into tapestry crochet. I'm working on my second project using that technique: my Ionic bag. It does not look like a bag at the moment, more like a bowl, but it will get there. Let's see if I can post a picture or two of it now:

Wow, it's showing *great* promise!
Is this your design, too?
Pauline
Thank you pauline3.
The kitty bag (earlier photos) is from Carol Ventura's "More Tapestry Crochet" book. I used her book for the base and the special graph paper in her book to draw up my own pattern for the Ionic bag. I'm still not sure how to finish it yet - I'll just see how far my thread will take me and what I come up with. This technique is great for pictures, just like filet (which I love). Just grab some paper and doodle (I did that for a couple of days and have come up with other shapes / images I want to use for future projects). My next projects will use 3 colors (1 active and 2 carried). At some point, I'll also try to do a flat piece, but one thing at a time.

That'a amazing I've never tried this kind of crochet but I've always wanted too. I guess it intimidates me a little.
Keep going and make sure you post pics as you go.
This is the latest photo. Now I have to decide as to how to proceed: is it still going to be a bag and how do I want the rest of it to look? Or, will it become a container and acquire a lid? What type of lid? There are loads of possibilities.
I'm going to let it sit for a few days and see what I come up with - let inspiration come to me!! I have other things to finish up / get back to in the meantime.

mad for crochet!
That is lovely!
I LIKE IT!!!, I LIKE IT ALOT!!!!
I do think I am going to try my hand at this sometime soon. I want to get to the library and see if I can find the book and check it out. Great pics and nice job.
Thanks for the comments. I definitely recommend Carol Ventura's books - they're great and have easy to follow instructions. You can also check out tapestry crochet online at www.tapestrycrochet.com - they are some video tutorials and explanations. I know Carol wants to encourage as many people as possible to try this technique out.
By the way, the bag is finished and can be seen in the FO section.

COOL
I've never tried tapestry crochet before, but your bag is quite lovely. I like the color combination. Can't wait to see how it turns out!!

The bag has been finished for a while. If you go under FO's (Finished Objects), it's on the 2nd page under Ionic Bag. I posted a picture. If you look on my profile, there are 4 photos that I last uploaded - those are all tapestry crochet. Not very sure about the socks though - I'm still reserving judgement due to my color choice, not the pattern which I love. I've not had much time lately with the new school year and other projects to actually be active on this site - I tend to be on Ravelry a lot more (my projects page there is pretty much up to date - well almost).
