Here is a hat I started in January http://crochetme.com/forum/sunshiny-stripey-hat
I finished this using a much larger hook and three strands held together skipping every other stitch, but still using slip stitch flo. I like the texture and the extra warmth on the ears.

Looks almost like knitted! Interesting sticth pattern.
I do love the results from slip stitching but it does take a bit longer than other stitches. It is interesting that it kind of looks like knitting, but I can't knit to save my life, so I am glad to keep finding out how awesome and versatile crochet is!!
