I have a pattern that calls for 100% cotton yarn but I have a wool blend yarn. Can I substitute the wool blend for the cotton in the pattern or will I need to get the right yarn?
It can be quite tricky when substituting yarn types. Cotton doesn't stretch the way acrylic does. I can't say what a wool blend would do. The easiest way to do it is with the yarn specified in the pattern directions.
I would try it and see what happens. You can always frog it and go buy the cotton if it doesn't work.
I am a 40 year old stay at home mom of 5(4 daughters ages 25,7,5 and 15 months. One son age 15)and grandma to 1 (4 1/2 month old boy in Houston). I picked up crocheting after years of admiring the work of others. Still learning but love the experience.

Thanks for the advice. I will probably just go buy the cotton yarn.
