please help to download a picture

Categorized As:

I am having a very hard time trying to download a picture for help identifying a stitch. I have it on "flickr" but, I want the image to show up in my forum question-- rather than someone having to go to "flickr" to help me out. This site seems hard to navigate. Any help? PLEASE

I figured it out; go to your CrochetMe profile and make sure your flickr username is entered in the box that asks for it.

Then go to your chosen picture in flickr. It has to be marked "public" for this to work. Above it should be some little boxes; one says "all sizes" or something similar. When you click and go to that page, you can choose a small, medium, large version of your picture. Make your choice; below will be a window with some HTML text. It will look like this, except with angle brackets < > around it, which I have removed so it will show up as code rather than the picture:

a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/skeinfest/1473660939/" title="Photo Sharing" img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1126/1473660939_ccccdc208d_t.jpg" width="75" height="100" alt="Flowers for you!" /

Highlight the whole contents of the box, copy (control-C) and then go to where you are writing your message in the forum. PASTE (control-P) into the message-writing box. When you PREVIEW your message you should see your picture.

My little picture should be here --
Flowers for you!

Let me know if this works! I just figured it out last week and I'm writing these instructions from memory.

If it were not for this post I never would have been able to figure out the whole picture thing. Thankyouthankyouthankyou!

Can we post pictures from other places than flikr? I have photos of finished projects I'd love to post, but they are either on my flash drive, or have been posted to my Yahoo group. Can we only upload from flikr? I didn't particularly want to sign up at flikr, but I guess I could.

When I tried to insert the picture from my Yahoo group, I got a marker, but no picture.

To insert an image that's hosted on any server (it doesn't have to be Flickr), you can enter the code directly, or you can use the rich-text editor.

To enter the code, insert the following into the text box, replacing the text inside the quotation marks with the location of your image (without a space after the first bracket):

< img src="the-link-to-the-file-goes-here" />

If you would like to insert an image using the rich-text editor, click the link for "enable rich-text" at the bottom-left of the text box. Now you see buttons for bold, italics, etc. Click the button that looks like a painting. A box pops up; enter the file location of your image in the first line of the box and click "insert".

Note that if you use Flickr, you must enter the second link that's given on the "all sizes" page of the photo (not the link that's within a bunch of other text/code).

Thank you very much Teresa, I also used your instructions and got my picture on the forum. The instructions on FAQs need to be clearer and could it possibly be made easier to upload photos?
