newbie needs help asap!!!
Hi ive just started learning to crochet and im so confused-bought a book that i just got through the post today and the stitches are named different from the ones i learned off the internet
for instance....single crochet i thought was hook through, Yo ,pull through 1 loop then YO and pull through 2 loops
But in this book thats called a double crochet? and it doesnt cover the single crochet?
A slip stitch on the net was Hook through Yo pull through 1st loop then pull 1st loop through 2nd loop?looking like wee V shapes
But in the book a slip stitch is hook through Yo and pull through 1 loop only
Can anyone help me?? im so confused as dont know what is right or wrong so i cant follow patterns!!
Id be so gratful for your help as ive kinda hit a wall until i find out more on this!

Hey louisacatcrochet, welcome to the wild world of crochet! It sounds like you are confused about the different terms used by people in the US and the UK. Check out the Garn Studio site www.garnstudio.com they have a pretty good explanation and conversion charts.
mad for crochet!
