New person looking for friends and some help =P
Heyy...
Yehh well I'm Steff and Im new to the whole Crochet thing..
As I am finishing Collage soon and so I will have alot of time on my hands I wanted to start a new hobbie and so I was on a hunt around the internet for some ideas and I found this website and just fell inlove with all the things eveyone has made and wanted to have a go myself..
My mum has gone on a hunt to find me a Crochet for beginners book or somthing along them lines!!
Was just wondering..
Is it easy to get the hang of?
Is there any advice that could help to start me off?
Thanks alot

Tell your mom to check out "Stitch and Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker", http://www.amazon.com/Stitch-Bitch-Crochet-Happy-Hooker/dp/0761139850/re... The first third is all about how to crochet. The last two-thirds is a variety of cute and easy patterns.
Happy hooking!
Pauline
Thanks alot!!
I'll tell her!

Hello and Welcome!!
I've never had a crochet book so I can't speak on that. But since you're online, there are some great stitch tutorials on http://www.freepatterns.com/content/content.html?content_id=17 They are video which makes it easier for me to follow.
Hi Steff
I second the recommendation for the "Stitch and Bitch" Happy Hooker book. The only thing you need to be aware of is that it is an American book and the stitch names, needle sizes and yarn sizes are different from the English ones. There are very good conversion tables in the book though.
I have quite a few crochet books now and this is far and away the best one for learning to crochet. Written simply and very funnily, its a joy to read and the patterns are really inspiring.
Thanks alot for all your help.
I am hoping to get my first book and Crochet set this weekend so it wont be long before I start!!
I will keep in mind the advice you have all given me.
Thanks again

yes, it's very easy to get the hang of for most people, the hardest part (at least for me) is understanding patterns.
Oh and not to be a nag, but it's spelled crochet. I think it's French so you don't pronounce the T.
Happy crocheting!!

Crocheting is such a relaxing art for me! It keeps me sane!
Once you start, I doubt you'll stop ... not with all the fun
patterns and yarns out there!!! My kids are in college too
and in fact they advertise for me on Craigs List and all those
sales go to them and to help my son through his last year
at the universtiy, then 3 in Med School and then some more
for his opthamology degree... he should be done in 2015 ...
poor kid!

I love crocheting. It was very easy for me to get a hang of and I pick it up all the time after long abscences so you never really lose the skill once you get it. Feel free to friend me if you still need some but welcome. I hope to see lots of your project soon.
