New to Crochet
Hello everyone, I just joined the site today to hopefully get some pointers from everyone. My mum, grandmother and aunt have done Crochet all my life. The make the most beautiful blanket, scarfs, hats, slippers, you name it. I have decided it's high time I learned.
Here's my question....I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a beginners crochet book...I mean BASIC....I don't care if the book would explain it to me like I'm an idiot...in fact that would probably be a good idea...lol.
I mean I have NO idea how to get started!! I don't know what yarn to use or hooks or ANYTHING!! I would really appreciate ANY help what so ever!! Thank you!!

If you google "How to crochet" you will find tons of articles and videos to help you get started without having to buy a book.

Hi Melissa,
how about "The Crochet Bible" e.g., as a beginners book? Looks good to me. Have a look anyway at your local book store (or online) and have a look into the books on the shelf.
Yeah, right, there is also an abundance of videos online incase you want visual help. I'm sure you'll find something.

Thank you so much!! I'll give those all a try!! I've already put some books on hold at my library to see if those help. I'm planning on going to Barnes & Noble this week to see if they have anything.
Crochet for Dummies!! I love those books for everything else. I've never read the crochet one, but it's certainly one to check out.
Try going to a bookstore and looking in the crafting sections and just look through the books. Find one with LOTS of pictures.
Also search on YouTube. THere are videos on there that I have found extremely helpful!
