new to crochet

hey people

i have been trying to teach myself how to crochet and not doing very well-bought a few books and there not very good at explaining things

i learnt how to do a simple chain and a sinle crochet but dont even no if am doing it right?/

does anyone know what the next thing i can do?

id love to be able to make soem nice bags etc for xmas coming up!

mad for crochet! There are a lot of video tutorials on youtube, it can help to see it in action if you don't have a real live teacher. I also like Kim Werker's tutorial here about double crochet. This is a good stitch for bags. http://crochetme.com/blog/demystifying-double-crochet-beginners. If you can, show some of what you have done so far and ask some more questions.
