Need ideas!

Hi Everyone!

I am hoping to get some inspiration. I want to make something for my boyfriend for Christmas and I'm not sure what to make. I know there is a curse on sweaters - the whole boyfriend sweater curse thing - so obviously I won't be making him a sweater. But does the curse extend to other things like hats? And if it doesn't, does anyone have any recommendations for patterns for crocheted hats for men, or possibly scarves?

Thank you!
Katie

Hi Katie,

I think it is wonderful you want to make something special for your special someone. I like to make scarves, they are very easy and fun to make. My favorite is cast on 15 stitches; *hdc in 2nd ch from hook, and in every stitch across, ch 2 turn repeat from * till it’s as long as you want or you run out of wool whichever comes first. [You can use single, double or even triple crochet stitch]
And for a dressier look, for a suite and coat, how about a keyhole neck scarf?
Whatever you choose, make it fit his personality, crazy or serious, fringe or not.

Have fun,
Cathy

It's all been a curse for me (socks seem to be my own special curse)... Crochet for yourself (and in front of him)--if he seems into it get him a hook and some absolutely fantastic yarn for Christmas and teach him how to crochet his own scarf. :) I've found it's the best way to (1) spend fun time with someone you like and (2) it means they'll really understand what it means to receive a handmade gift.

I've never crocheted for my boyfriend. I've asked him repeatedly if he wants anything but he doesn't. I think it goes back to the sweater curse thing. When I explained the curse to him, about how if I spend all kinds of time and effort to make him a sweater and he doesn't treated like the most awesome thing ever I might feel slighted (I wouldn't I don't think, but who knows, I got me some problems and could snap at any moment).

Also, I always have 4 or 5 other projects on the hook and I think he does not want to interfere.

One day I will crochet for him a woolly man-thong and get all offended when he doesn't wear it! I wonder if I could make a felted man-thong..."ha ha ha I made something really itchy for your wiener!"

If I ever took David's pants off and found a crocheted man thong, crocheted or otherwise....AMAZING! I'd be so happy
