Need help with Victorian Shrug & Wrap, from Crochet Me book
I just started working on this project and am not sure on the directions. I finished the "Back" section and am moving on to "Arm".
The directions are:
Row 1: Ch 8, remove hook, but do not fasten off, join yarn to opposite end with same hook in top of tch, ch 6. Fasten off. Pick up dropped lp...
I am lost at the part of removing the hook, then joining yarn to opposite end; opposite end of what? Am I joining a new skein? I understand the abbreviations, but have no clue as to what I am creating or supposed to be doing in this step and reading further into the directions, this part is something that will be done repeatedly.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
mander22

Hi mander22, yes this pattern is unique! By the opposite end, it means the beginning of the row you just finished, and yes, you join a new skein. The arms and top of sweater are worked together in a long piece, getting longer with each row - that is what the ch 8 is all about, adding length. Pick up the dropped loop means go back and work in the place that you removed the hook but did not fasten off. I hope this sheds some light. It is a beautiful wrap and I hope you have success!

mad for crochet!Hello again, I just found a post by someone who was working on your sweater and has posted pictures as she went. It is in the in progress section of this forum by Katielady75 - Sweater from Cover of Crochet Me book - UPDATED!

That makes sense. I'll try it out. Thanks for the help and finding the pictures too!
Yes, Thanks for this post. I, too, have bravely started this pattern and this thread answers my question. Too bad I didn't bring a second ball of yarn to my office - now I'll HAVE to do my day job!
