My Mom's handspun
My Mom spun this gorgeous blue face leicester roving that her neighbor gave her in trade. She gave some to me and I dyed it with lichen. I am totally in love with this yarn. I have no idea what to make with it. I think it will be my pet for a while. Maybe I will give it a name!
One of my other pets, Vixen was kind enough to model for me.

That's really lovely. I'd call it Orange Tabby.
Wow sarah!! That's really cool. Your mom spins & you dye the yarn. :) When are you two going into business?! (kidding) The yarn looks beautiful. And Vixen looks pretty content modeling. How cute!! The yarn looks kinda chunky to me. What if you made a messenger style bag with it? Whatever you create, have fun!!!
Thanks for sharing!!

Hi Sarah. I just have a question which might seem akward, but where I live (Puerto Rico), there aren't too many options. Where can you find yarn that isn't spun? Do you guys have stores which sell unspun yarn? Here in Puerto Rico I can get lucky to be able to find yarn at Walmart and the only thing they usually have is worsted weight-and baby yarn-acrylic; usually no animal fibers. My only luck is online.
Buy the way, that yarn looks very interesting. Good luck with whatever project you decide to make!

mad for crochet!
Jessica, I am sorry I didn't answer for so long. It is hard to keep track of all the forum posts! Unless you know of someone near you who raises sheep and sells their unspun fleece, yes I guess your best bet would be an online store.
Jessica,
I'm not Sarah (obviously) but I also spin. When you say "unspun" yarn, do you mean roving? Roving are the strips of unspun wool/fiber. Or do you mean singles? Singles are a single spun piece of wool. The yarn in the picture is two-ply yarn (where two singles are spun together.)
If you're looking for roving, I love The Sheep Shed Studio. Their prices are great and they have a great selection. Just google the title to find the site.
Good luck :)
