my first act of guerrilla crochet a minor success

Categorized As:

Here is my little journal about it...

Okay, I’ll let you in on the plan… I shall attempt to hit Cannonball Park in Edgartown,MA with some guerrilla crochet. Both cannons and pyramids of cannonballs shall receive cozies. Wish me luck. I will give a full report once the mission is complete.

Sunday Dec 14 So, the mission went pretty well seeing as it was my maiden act of guerrilla crochet . I have to say that although I thought I was pretty prepared, there are some things I learned this time that will help the next mission go even better.

 1. measure your targets! I wish I had made the cannonball cozies bigger

2. use one long tie woven along the whole piece rather than several individual ties. This will cut down on the dangley ends and the final project will look neater.

3. maybe brighter colors would be a little more eye catching

4.don’t talk it up so much in the beginning so people will not be misled into thinking this is going to be a major media event!

This mission was completed in the spirit of solidarity with the Crochet Liberation Front.

 Viva la crochet!!

So I have at least one more mission planned - for a statue in Oak Bluffs. It will require a ladder, and more stealth, as it is very close to the police station!

Hooray! Did it become a media event, that is, did you get any press?

I think the knitting guerrillas are usually teams. Maybe someone to at least hold your ladder?

'Course you can! I've heard of knitted tags before, crocheters deserve them as well! (And everyone on this site needs Crochet Liberation Front t-shirts. In camo.)
