I've been working on an epic project for my brother as a housewarming gift. I've designed a Mario Brothers afghan and this is how it's going! I'm super excited!
How cool!! My son would love this! He is Mario obsessed, and really prefers the older Mario opposed to the newer ones.
This might just make me try out graph afghans again.
I think I speak for the entire Nintendo generation when I say that this is probably one of the coolest crocheted pieces I have *ever* seen. Can't wait until you add the characters. I have to admit though, I'm a little confused about how it's put together. Is it all single crochet and then... embroidered or something on top? How the heck did you do the question box? I am super impressed. I want one. :)

You guessed correctly, Lex. It's all single crocheted with main shapes and then I'm basically cross-stitching details to the top. Check me out at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomcatdesigns
You can keep up with the project's progress and look at earlier photos to figure out how it went together. Thanks for the praise folks!

I taught myself to crochet about 5 years ago and I've been totally addicted ever since. My current favorite thing to crochet are tote bags depicting old video games. Pixels translate well to single crochet:)
Clever!! Lots of crocheters are inspired by vid games, much to my admiration but non-player confusion.
