What is the name of the pattern? Is it one you could post the link for or is it from a printed source? Which part are you confused about - what to do after you put the stitch on the stitch marker? Need more info!

It sounds like the magic ring is the loop, after you have done the first set of stitches into this loop, place the st that is on your hook onto the stitch marker then ch 1, and continue the next lot of stitches in the same loop as before.

Hi YarnAddiction,

Your question sounds vaguely familiar to me as the beginning of the Swirl Wrap. If that is the case, the magic loop is a slip knot, and the live stitch needs to be put on a stitch marker because you are going to start with the second color and need to keep that last stitch live for the next time you pick up that color.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask me.

It is really an unreliable thing I heard in my life. I am not sure about what do you mean by a magic ring. If is possible please provide me further information.
