Interweave Crochet, Winter 2007 - favorites
So what are your favorites from this issue?
I think my most favorite is the Wild Rose Shawl on the cover. I adore Irish crochet but working a piece in thread is too daunting. This, in yarn, looks complete-able and tempts me.
Photos are on the internet, http://interweavecrochet.com/issue/materials_win07.asp , for drooling.

Pauline I was so pleased to get this copy when I was in the States over Christmas and the New Year .
I bought yarn in Mount Dora to do the Schoolmarm Vest just loved this pattern although coudl not get the same named yarn .
But did like the yarn the lady in the shop had and she was ver so helpful a delightful Russian lady but she not have any crochet hooks .
So bought the yarn and now have to go and get the hooks asd I dont have a 5mm or 3.25mm.
Yes the Wild Rose Shawl is so pretty .
Managed to get a 5.00mm this afternoon but not a 3.25 yarn shop here only has a 3.00mm and 3.50 smallest I have is a 4.00mm would I be able to use the 4.00mm or does i treally nead to be 3.25.
Taking the optimistic view, maybe you can use the other size hook. Hook size is just a recommendation for how to get gauge. If you are a tight crocheter, the 3.5 hook may be perfect.
The only way to know is to make a swatch a bit larger than 10x10 cm/4x4 in and count the sts and rows. If it matches the gauge in the pattern, you're set. If not, you'll have to do something to get the waistcoat to fit you - use a different hook, calculate a new number of sts and rows to use in the pattern (tricky), use the directions for a smaller or larger size pattern.
That's a cute pattern. I wish you all success.
Thank you Pauline I fell in love with this pattern.
I think it may look nice even a wee bit longer in length.
I have sent for a birch 3.25mm crochet hook for th eabove pattern k1yarns.com ,but a friend has said the lady in Mount Dora sold me wrong yarn and I shoudl use 4.00mm.
Oh my, you have almost too much advice! So I'll repeat mine - make a swatch. Try the 4.0 hook in case your friend is right.
A birch hook sounds like fun. Mine are all utilitarian. I think I deserve some pretty hooks, right?
Pauline I am now confused .
What do you think about the yarn that was sold to me Sirdar
country style instead of leut gems sport as shop did not stock it.
Shall paractice with 4.00mm hook .
Pauline I have not started yet and I am going to make a swatch was taking your advice.
Sorry, I think I missed your post somehow. By now I see you've done quite a bit of that pattern, so the yarn must be working. Good luck.
