Hello Hook Lovers!!

Categorized As:

I am new to "Crochet Me" so I thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Linda and I live in Rhode Island - I am a wife, mother and grandma - musician, crocheter and collage artist.
I have been crocheting for 40 years, taking a break to work on collaging, rubber stamping and polymer clay. But the hook called me back about 5 years ago and I have been at it ever since!

I have downloaded a couple of patterns and I love the whole look of this site!!

I shall return!!!

peace, Linda R

Hi Linda! We're nearly exact opposites... I'm 15 and in the 10th grade! My mom taught me how to chain when I was 4. I used to make really really long chains. For the longest time, that was all I wanted to do but when I was 10 I expressed interest in learning the actual CROCHET. My mom taught me that, and I was crocheting in spurts. Sometimes it was all I would do and others I wouldn't do it for months. I mostly ever made afghans (although I've only made two of those) and scarves, but now I'm branching out and it's so fun! I joined this site to meet other people that love crocheting too.

Hello Crochet Kitty!!
It's nice to meet you - I am glad to know that young folks are learning and liking crochet too!!!!
I have made lots of thread doilies and a few afghans and lots of hats and scarves and flowers, but now I am into loose fitting openwork jackets and vests!

Hi Linda,

Nice to meet you. I'm new to the community but, have found it easy to use. You are one talented lady.
Did you make jewelry out of the polymer clay?

What are you and the hook up to?

Hello!
Thank you for your reply!

Yes!!! I do make polymer clay jewelry - mostly pins and pendants. How did you know???

As for my crochet projects, I am currently making an open weave sweater for my friend's birthday

Hi Linda!

An intuitional guess. When you have the time will you please give me advice on where to start with polymer clay. I've always wanted to make my own beads out of the clay but, haven't found anyone to help me until you.

The open weave sweater sounds lovely. A pattern you can share?

Have a marvelous crafting day.

Hello Story,
As I told Kath, I am sorry to be so long in answering your post, but it is my busy season at work!
I would be happy to answer any questions you have about polymer clay - it is every bit as addicting as crochet -LOL!!
The open weave sweater on which I am working is a variation on a pattern called Mirabelle jacket - I think you can get it through Annie's attic.

Hi Linda,

I wanted to senda welcome although I am new to this site too, I wonder what do you play? I sometimes have been known to dust off my clarinet and play a few ditties.

Hi Kath!
Sorry to be so long in answering - life has been crazy here as it is one of my busy seasons. To answer your question, I play the 12 string guitar and the folk harp. I am a music director in a church - I have a flute and a saxophone in my ensemble but no clarinet!!!
