Hello from chilly Wiltshire UK

Categorized As:

Hello - I've been crocheting and knitting on and off for 40+ years. Just recently crocheted myself and husband slippers - also helped daughter with a recycled crocheted bag made from plastic shopping bags cut into strips. Bye for now, Di

Hi Di,

How chilly? Right now we're in the low 40's and dropping. That's Fahrenheit, not Celsius. Cool, but not quite freezing.

Recently, I was tempted to make something out of plastic bag yarn until I realized my bag collection has shrunk significantly. I've tried hard to use my own re-usable bags at stores, and I guess it has made an impact. At this rate I'll run out of trash liners!

I've gotten so compulsive about crocheting with plastic bags I actually choose my stores according what bags they have! A while back a friend brought me a gift in a huge peach plastic bag with pink dots and I was more excited about the bag than the gift.
I need to get a life lol!

I've donated my body to motherhood

Hello Di I am up the road in Scotland from you and its went and cold here to.

Intriged with you croched plastic bags.

How easy is it to make croched bags ,I am very interested to see how please.

Also needing to treat myself to new slippers or crochet myself a pair.

Do you use special wool to crochet slippers bet they are nice and cosy.

Hi everyone and thanks for welcome. Located on eastern side of Salisbury Plain not far from Stonehenge - temp is 10°F with heavy rain and strong winds.

scot_kat:
Made our slippers with UK double knitting (DK), mine consist of 3 hexagonal granny squares and a separate piece for the sole. DH's are basically a rectangle with crochet cuff added (did these with 2 strands of yarn, 1 of 4 ply and the other DK - a bit of trial and error as to sizing but nothing complicated). Will send you links to pattern sites separately - also that for "plastic bag" recycling
