Hairpin Crochet Problem

Categorized As:

Hi! I just got a "hairpin" and have tried hairpin crocheting on it with several different types of yarn.
Everything looks great while my crochet work is still on the hairpin, but when I remove it, the strip is twisted to such an extent that doing an edge treatment on the loops is impossible - figuring out the original order of the loops is not possible.
I've tried making my stitching very loose, as well as using soft yarn, but neither of those helps much!
All suggestions are welcomed!!

Thread the loops onto a length of yarn as you take them off the hairpin? Or onto a long knitting needle?

When making hairpin lace it is more usual to make several braids that are then crocheted together in groups of loops to create a wider strip. If you know how many loops will be grouped together in each 'join' count these out and join with a safety pin. For example, 10 at a time. This makes it easier to count the number of loops created too.

I also roll my piece up as I remove it from the loom. Then just unroll 10 or whatever amount I need to crochet together.
