Filet/Tunisian Crochet

Categorized As:

I am trying to make a single crochet hat, starting w/ 6sc in row 1, increasing by 6 stitches till I get to about 60sc which would be 10 rows. I will have about 25 rows total, if I remember correctly, maybe a little more or less.

I want to make a design in the hat, a letter T. I planned it out on graph paper but it's not looking the way I want it to when I crochet it, the first line of the T is good, the 2nd line is about a 1/2" off and it's supposed to be right in line with the first. Not sure about how to do this, or what's going wrong?

Does anyone have any sites or ideas with instructions? THanks!

Your title is confusing, but I think you are talking about single crochet color work, not tunisian or filet crochet.

If it's single crochet, it's sometimes called tapestry crochet when it's multicolored with more than one color per row. I googled on tapestry crochet and found these video tutorials, http://www.tapestrycrochet.com/ Hope that helps.

One of our members in this group is the resident expert on tapestry crochet. I read something she wrote and she said that the design tends to lean in the direction you are crocheting when working in the round.
