Doug and Gordo
I love these guys! I'm making 2 of each for some of my younger neices and nephews. I got most of the way through my first Doug when I discovered to my dismay that unless I'm blind the pattern doesn't include the hat for Gordo or the crown for Doug! I found them to be one of the most charming parts of the pattern so I am kind of disappointed. I'm not a super experienced crochetter. I *think* I could figure out a had for Gordo... maybe. But I have no idea how the crown for Doug would be made. Has anyone made up their own headgear for these guys? Any tips or suggestions?

Hi there!
I winged both the hat and crown, and in my manic rush to send the dolls off to the publisher in time for them to make it into the book (wouldn't it figure that the author was the worst with the deadline?!), we didn't have time to include the cute accessories.
If I remember correctly, Gordo's hat is worked from the top-down in hdc with some chain spaces to form that round of gaps, and with a picot edging.
Doug's crown is one row that's joined at the end. I think it's also hdc with evenly spaced huge popcorns.

Thanks so much for getting back!
I've never done popcorns or chain spacing before but I'll give it a try!
I was hoping you'd say that! Show us pics when you're done, eh? Have fun!
