Doris Chan's Outta Sight Help!
Hi everyone! I just started working on the Outta Sight duster from Doris Chan's Everyday Crochet. I'm up to the part labeled Body Continued, but this part of the pattern makes no sense to me. In the end, I should have 12 rows of four colors, but the math doesn't quite add up. The pattern calls for three rows in the normal pattern, four hip shaping rows, and nine more regular pattern rows, which adds up to 16, not 12. Can someone clear this up for me? I'm making the 49" size as a surprise for my mom so I'd love to be able to continue this lovely project!

Okay, I'm going to qualify my answer first by saying I haven't actually made this pattern , or anything in this book for that matter. But I got out my book and this is the best I can figure. See if it makes sense and if not just ignore me! First, it seems like she is saying to change colors every 12 rows in the Body section as you proceed through the rest of the pattern. I don't see any other color change instructions aside from the "Join B" part which is why I assume this. For the Body Continued section it says to Join B and work evenly for what I interpret to be 4 rows. Hip shaping 1 is 1 row. Hip shaping 2 is 8 rows. Hip shaping 3 is 1 row. Hip shaping 4 is 19 rows. You now have 33 rows. Then it says work even in pattern to end of color sequence of 48 rows which makes me think you will work rows 34-48 even in the pattern. So within Hip shaping 2 you would get to 12 rows and change colors, then continue on in that section.
I'm curious to see what others might have to say, and hopefully 'm not steering you wrong...
