Crocheting south paws
Hey yall!
I was just wondering how many crocheting lefties we have out there! Do you have any tips or lessons learned from the right-handed world? I recently started a baby blanket that had a chart pattern associated with it and was wondering why in the world it was marked from right to left. DUH!
I taught myself how to crochet with the "I Can't Believe I'm Crocheting!" book which addresses lefties. I can remember both of my grandmothers trying to teach me how to both knit and crochet as a kid, completely frustrated with my inability to do things "right."
Thanks,
Wendy

Hey Wendy,
I am also a lefty and taught myself with the same book you did. Both grandmothers also tried to teach me when I was younger and failed. I just finished a few layette sets and noticed that the buttonholes were on the opposite side, duh! I have yet to find any patterns that pertain to left handers!
Good luck and it's nice to know that I am not the only one!
Julie
Nope, you are not the only one! I also used the same book, but there are more books out there now that do have lefty instructions than when I started to try to learn. I was also taught as a child, but I wasn't interested then. Both of my grandmothers and my mother can't watch me because it is backwards to them.
I don't think that you will find many patterns that are written for us, but you can learn to reverse them. Good luck!
