blocking my cape
I decided to block the cape to show off the lacy pattern and to maximize the legnth. I think this will improve the drape too. I soaked the cape in warm water, gently squeezed it to remove some water. I used a small hammer to tap pins into the porch in order to gently and evenly(kinda!) stretch it out.

I prefer the blocked version. This is weird, but I like the colors better in the blocked version! Maybe it's a difference in lighting. I think you will love wearing this cape, though you might not care for blocking it every time you wash it, LOL. It's lovely.
Dear Pauline, head of the Crochet Me cheerleading squad, you always have such kind and helpful comments. Thanks! It is interesting that you mention the color difference. The yellow and orange faded a little in the sun while it was blocking. I'm okay with it. I have a solution for not having to block it everytime I wash it. I'll just never wash it!!=)LOL
mad for crochet!
I do go on and on, don't I! I just hate to see a post, especially about someone's work that they have spent so much time on, sit there with no response. It's like a slap in the face when someone is trying to share a part of her or himself.
Of course, I don't like the forums where every offering is gushed over. I try to be honest.
Hi Sarah,
I love your cape and that its naturally dyed. It's perfect for the ren fair, so no I'm thinking I might make one myself. And I was also thinking, a wood bead or two, at the bottom of each tip you crocheted on your cape, would probably help it keep that scalloped edge, and help it drape down (if that's a problem)
Hello jazzktn, thanks for your nice comments. I do like your idea of beads. Make sure to post a picture if you make one!
